<p>Keep this by the computer, or print it out for someone you look out for. Nothing here needs an email address or a sign-up, just five minutes to work through the list.</p>
<h3>Passwords</h3>
<ul>
<li>Use a different password for every account you actually care about.</li>
<li>Three random words works well, or let a password manager create one for you.</li>
<li>Never send a password over text or email. No real company will ever ask for one.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Updates</h3>
<ul>
<li>Turn on automatic updates for your phone, computer, and the apps you use most.</li>
<li>Don't click "update now" links in emails or texts. Open the settings on the device itself and update from there.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Two-Factor Authentication</h3>
<ul>
<li>Turn on two-factor authentication for email and banking first. It stops most account takeovers even if a password leaks.</li>
<li>Use an authenticator app rather than text messages where you can. It's harder for someone to intercept.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Spotting a Scam</h3>
<ul>
<li>A real company will never rush you or threaten you to get you to act right now.</li>
<li>Be wary of gift card or bank transfer requests. No genuine bill or fine gets paid that way.</li>
<li>If you're not sure, hang up and call the organisation back on a number you looked up yourself.</li>
